These animals turned up in the trade 1 year ago ( you see them rarely ) . These are really magnificent animals with their yellow / white spots. These spots can reach a size of 1 to 2 ". These species come from Surinam a country in the northern regions of South America.

The spot start white in the middle and turns orange / yellow to the outside. The spot is surrounded with a thick black ring. Between the spots you see a beige ground color. And also new spots develop between the bigger spots. You see that with some species spot development on adult animals. I suspect this species will reach a disk size of maximum 22" ( remember not much is known of these species). The animals we got in where 18"and the male has already fully developed claspers.
Another point of notice is the aggression of these animals. I have never seen a freshwater stingray who is as aggressive as this species, specially while feeding they won't hesitate to bite each other to get to the food, and this in a really aggressive way. So remember this specially if you want to keep them with other potamotrygon species.
A small video below. The animals had just arrived, where skinny and covered in small parasites. Always be aware for parasites and always quarantine your newly acquired animals.

Potamotrygon Itaituba P14 big spot.
The future of P14? At least I think so. These animals we saw as pups in Asia en desided to buy them. As a juvinile they look just like a normal P14 but somewhere in the wildcaught bloodline their has bin a very beatifull animal who is giving the animals very big spots. The animals are developing in a very beatifull pattern. We bought a group of 5 females ( 4 of them on these pictures ) and the male we had already. Within 2 years we must be able to breed these animals in numbers. Enjoy the pictures. The movie I made with my phone is no top quallity but enjoy.
